Who We Are
We’re piano teachers—and parents—who understand firsthand the challenges of music learning, both in lessons and at home. We all want our children to achieve excellence, making real progress. And we also want them to enjoy the process, feeling confident and connected.
But striking that balance isn't easy.
Structure and discipline are important—but too much can lead to power struggles and frustration. On the other hand, nurturing joy and emotional safety is essential—but we worry that without structure, children might not progress.
So how do we help children excel in music learning—while keeping it joyful?
That’s why we created Melodecks.
By combining insights from child psychology and neuroscience with our experience in music education, we designed a tool that helps children learn both effectively and joyfully.
Our cards use imaginative prompts to deliver simple, effective mental strategies that help children engage their minds, build focus, boost motivation, and develop emotional resilience—making music learning both joyful and productive.
Why “Melo”?
Beyond melody, “Melo” also means apple trees—symbols of wisdom, love, and growth. In mythology and tradition, the apple has represented knowledge, happiness, and the nurturing of young minds.
Just like the "Tree of Love," we believe music is a gift passed down with care. And with the right support, music lessons and practice can actually strengthen the bond between children and the adults who guide them.
Our hope is simple - That one day, when you and your child look back, your music journey will be a cherished memory.
Meet the Team
-
Co-FounderAlice Wong is a mother of three, piano teacher with 20 years of experience, and parent educator. After earning her music degree from Brighan Young University, she became a pioneer of Suzuki piano teaching and early childhood education in Hong Kong. Despite her years of experience, it was motherhood that opened her eyes to the transformative power of imagination in children's learning. Through personal experience and extensive research in child psychology and neuroscience, she discovered how deeply imagination fuels focus and joy. After creating countless imaginative prompts for her daughter and students—and seeing consistent, remarkable results—she was inspired to share these simple yet powerful strategies with more music teachers and parents. And that’s how Melodecks was born.
